To provide incorporation monitoring of operational personnel, KHG maintains a semi-trailer with two permanently mounted measuring systems.
The personal data of the person to be measured is collected in the entry area and stored in a central databank. Afterwards, the persons are measured whilst standing in the measurement chamber.
Each measurement station consists of 2 four-litre NaJ detectors arranged above each other within 10 cm thick shielding made from low activity ships steel. This form of detection geometry enables the whole body of persons of different heights to be measured, including the thyroid gland.
The capacity of the body counter is approximately 30 measuring cycles per hour, with a detection limit of 200 Bq for Cs 137. Measurement and evaluation is computer controlled.
